Comparison of Mem Retinoscopy & Nott Retinoscopy & Their Interexaminer Repeatabilities
نویسندگان
چکیده
The results of previous studies comparing Monocular Estimate Method (MEM) retinoscopy and Nott retinoscopy (Nott) have not been consistent. The purposes of this study were to compare MEM and Nott measures of accommodative response with each other and to provide data on the interexaminer reliability of MEM and Nott. Two examiners performed both MEM and Nott retinoscopy on 50 young adult subjects, using a 40 cm testing distance. Measurements of accommodative response were also taken with a Canon Autoref R-1 (Canon) autorefractor. The mean difference between MEM and Nott was 0.0002 0.55 D. The 95% limits of agreement between the two examiners were 0.17 D on Nott retinoscopy and 0.31 D

Intra-examiner repeatability and agreement in accommodative response measurements.
PURPOSE Clinical measurement of the accommodative response (AR) identifies the focusing plane of a subject with respect to the accommodative target. To establish whether a significant change in AR has occurred, it is important to determine the repeatability of this measurement. This study had two aims: First, to determine the intraexaminer repeatability of AR measurements using four clinical me...
متن کاملComparison of Three Methods of Measuring CA/C Ratios
Background: Clinical determination of convergence accommodation to convergence (CA/C) ratios may be useful for analysis of accommodation and vergence disorders, but there are no standard clinical methods of measurement of CA/C ratios. This study compared two potential clinical CA/C measurement methods to a laboratory procedure. Methods: CA/C ratios were measured for 19 young adult subjects usin...
متن کاملDiagnostic signs of accommodative insufficiency.
PURPOSE To determine which are the most sensitive tests, together with accommodative amplitude, to classify accommodative insufficiency (Al), we analyzed the relation between monocular estimated method (MEM) dynamic retinoscopy, monocular and binocular accommodative facility (MAF, BAF), and positive relative accommodation (PRA) with or without the presence of reduced amplitude of accommodation....
متن کاملEvolution of accommodative function and development of ocular movements in children.
The evolution of the accommodative function and development of ocular movement are evaluated in a non-clinical paediatric population (1056 subjects) aged 6-12 years, providing means for each age in the optometric tests that evaluate the accommodative amplitude, accommodative facility, accommodative response (lag), and saccadic movements. A comparison of these values between ages (anova) establi...
متن کاملInduced by Nearpoint plus Lenses
Monocular Estimate Method Retinoscopy was used twice to measure the accommodative posture of 211 pre-presbyopic subjects. It was first measured with their farpoint lenses in place, and second, with the farpoint lenses and nearpoint plus lens additions (PLA) in place. The PLAs utilized for the second MEM were based on the binocular cross cylinder findings. The findings from the MEM-twice procedu...
